Although black granite worktops ad the most robust natural surface material and require little maintenance, it is a good idea to seal them at least once every two years to prevent staining. Also, avoid cleaning them with harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can dull the granite surface. Soap, water and a cloth are all you need to maintain black granite worktops impeccably.
Black Vermont granite is a natural igneous stone from Brazil comprising high content of the minerals such as feldspar and quartz. It is prevalent as a kitchen worktop, bathroom vanity top material, flooring, and other decorative applications due to its longevity and attractive appearance. Do not confuse this Black Vermont granite with Vermont limestone, a white calcium carbonate stone.
Black granite (Moh's strength 6-7) is harder and stronger than black marble (Moh's strength 3-4). It also requires less maintenance and is more water resistant. Black granite comprises gabbro rock, harder than carbonate rocks such as marble, whereas black marble has a deeper black base. Therefore, black granite is a more durable and hard stone than black marble.
