No. Technistone is a non-porous material. Therefore, no sealants or additional protection are required to preserve it.
Using Technistone in a high-traffic area, such as a commercial environment, you can add a protective layer to the surface.
Apply the impregnating chemicals consistently to a worktop with a soft microfiber that is dry and clean. Then, eliminate any excess material after coating, then briskly grind. Finally, withdraw to work for the coating manufacturer's time frame.
Some protective coatings are water- or solvent-based, with and without colour enhancers.
Below are the four primary care and maintenance recommendations for keeping Technistone surfaces brilliant and the worktops intact:
- The Worktop Library does not recommend chopping meals or other foods straight on the worktop to preserve the polished surfaces. Employ Instead, use a chopping board.
- Never set hot items on the worktop, such as cast iron pans; always use a pad or insulation mat.
- When using speciality tools and sharp items such as knives, exercise care.
- The corners and edges of the worktop and sink cutout should be especially watched out for when using dinnerware and other pieces of metal. It avoids the quartz worktop chipping.
